I can’t stop laughing. This is so hilarious.
THANK YOU FOR ASKING THIS QUESTION THIS MEANS I GET TO TALK ABOUT GENDERFLUID KIRK.
A lot of our posts regarding this involve Kirk crossdressing because that’s really the only thing even slightly relevant to genderfluidity on textsfromlastnight. Sally and I (especially me omg I get butterflies in my tummy thinking about Kirk wearing skant uniforms on the bridge and embracing the whole spectrum of his gender identity) just really really like the idea of genderfluid Kirk, and this comes from several sources:
1. Sally commented a lot when we were baby fans about the fact that Kirk is such an interesting character because he is this great balance of traditionally masculine and feminine characteristics. He can be forceful and aggressive, but also soft and kind and creative. He has this beautiful curvy figure and this lovely, lovely face. He turns the traditional gender role of a woman getting her power only through seduction of men on its head by being the one to do the false seducing. I totally agreed with all of this, and it’s the major reason I love Kirk so much. He isn’t your typical I AM MAN HEAR ME ROAR male protagonist; he brings some aspect of a mother and a queen to the Enterprise.
2. Sally was making a McKirk playlist, and she chose the song “Scar Tissue” for it. She was complaining to me about the fact that gendered pronouns in songs kind of ruin it when you are trying to make playlists for slash pairings. She was particularly troubled by the line, “Push me up against the wall/ Young Kentucky girl in a push-up bra.” And then I was like “Well I mean it’s not a problem necessarily; I really like the idea that Kirk occasionally crossdresses. Maybe he was in a bra.” And then from that moment forward I was just like YESYEYSYEYES CROSSDRESSING KIRK. (Here’s that excellent playlist if you ship McKirk)
3. I couldn’t figure out exactly why I liked crossdressing Kirk so much, until someone (it might have been Sally, it was probably Sally) just wrote the words “genderfluid Kirk” and I was IMMEDIATELY like “This was what my brain has been trying to tell me this whole time. He likes to wear women’s clothes because sometimes he feels more like a woman than a man.” And the rest is history.
You can find traces of this all over tumblr if you know where to look. I know imagine-jim-bones-and-spock has some GREAT posts about Kirk crossdressing or buying women’s clothes because of his genderfluid identity: a favorite of mine was about Mirror Kirk wearing lingerie and nighties to bed. It’s also possible to find cool art of Kirk in a skant captain’s uniform, although I don’t have a link readily available.

Star Trek Abridged: The Trouble With Tribbles
If you’re a Star Trek fan and you haven’t seen every Star Trek Abridged video on YouTube, what are you doing with your life.
Someone or something out there must be taking pity on me today because there is a classic ST movie marathon on TV and a thunder storm has just rolled in and blocked out the goddamn incessant sunlight.
I still feel bad about my cat but my day is getting better and better.
I was feeling kind of down today since I’m going to be home alone for a week again and I’m already feeling kind of lonely but Star Trek III is on TV and the Spones is cheering me up.
headcanon that scotty has to say goodnight to the enterprise every night before bed or he won’t be able to sleep. (◡‿◡✿)
